Single Visa???

Some rumours are emerging about a single visa for both foreigners visiting either Thailand or Cambodia, but the idea continues to include Laos, Vietnam and possibly even Burma. If it is adopted, travelers will be able to travel easily around South East Asia using a single visa!

25th SEA Games

The plans are in place for the 25th South East Asia Games to be held in Laos in 2009. The number of events will be cut from previous years to ‘25′ to match the number of times the games have been held. While the games are officially held in Vientiane, some sports will take place in Luang Prabang, and others in Savannakhet. Laotian hopes rest in the sports of judo, karate, boxing, petanque and pencak silat. This is a huge event for Laos and they are receiving some help from Vietnam to ensure they get the necessary infrastructure in place before the start.

Top Destination for 2008

The International Herald and Tribune has listed the top 53 places to go in 2008, and sitting pretty at the top of the list is Laos. With Vietnam and Cambodia no longer holding the appeal of their readers, it’s Laos that is ‘Indochina’s Next Hot Spot’. We have to agree!
